Temporary Closure of Melbourne retail stores
Wednesday 18 March 2020
Dear La Belle Miette Customers,
Following this morning’s news that Australian hospitals are already overloaded due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend trade at all Melbourne stores at close of business today Wednesday 18 March 2020. We apologise for the short notice, but this is a public health crisis and things are moving extremely quickly. The health and safety of our staff, along with that of our community is our main concern.
We will continue to sell online, though likely with some new conditions. We will be contacting all of our order customers to make appropriate arrangements.
The stores that will temporarily close from 18 March end of day are:
- 8 Collins Street Melbourne
- 30 Hardware Lane Melbourne
- 432 Church Street Richmond
We thank all of our staff and our customers for making La Belle Miette what it is. Making this decision now gives us the best opportunity of re-opening as soon as the storm has passed.
Despite the gloomy picture, there are many reasons to be optimistic about humanity’s ability to conquer the virus. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and others have shown that the growth can be slowed, so with any luck we can do the same here.
All the best,
Hugh and Maylynn
La Belle Miette
